The Process (Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry)
GC/MS separates the complex mixture of patchouli oil into its individual chemical components (Gas Chromatography) and accurately identifies each one based on its molecular mass structure (Mass Spectrometry). It provides an exact, non-forgeable fingerprint of the oil's composition.
Patchoulol (Target: 30%+ minimum)
Patchoulol is the primary sesquiterpene alcohol in the oil. It is the chemical compound responsible for the signature earthy scent and, crucially, the oil's fixative power. The percentage of patchoulol directly determines fragrance longevity and yield efficiency in formulation. Aceh's terroir naturally yields 30%+, compared to 26–28% from other Indonesian regions.
Major Compounds (Bulnesene & Guaiene)
Alpha-bulnesene and alpha-guaiene make up the supporting cast. The balance of these compounds indicates geographic origin — verifiable proof that this is true Aceh oil and not a blend. They contribute the woody, balsamic notes that round out the aroma profile.
Contaminants & Off-Notes (Norpatchoulenol)
Norpatchoulenol is strongly associated with harsh, smoky, or crude off-notes. We monitor this strictly to ensure clean profiles. Furthermore, reading the numerical results guarantees zero synthetic adulteration — our GC/MS reports prove the absence of synthetic extenders like DEP or synthetic patchoulol.

Distillation
Fresh-cut patchouli leaves steam-distilled within 24 hours of harvest at licensed distillation hubs in Gayo Lues and Bener Meriah.

Homogenization
Batches from multiple distillation runs are blended to achieve consistent patchoulol % target before drum filling.

Internal Sampling
Random sample pulled from each drum before sealing. Sample retained for 24 months as a reference specimen.

Independent Lab Testing
Sample sent to partner laboratory / GC-MS testing (accredited third-party lab) for full GC/MS analysis. Results returned within 5–7 working days.

Report & Export
GC/MS report attached to shipment documentation. PDF published to Quality Lab dashboard. CoA issued per lot.
Testing partners
Analysis is performed by independent, accredited third-party laboratories. Depending on the buyer's requirement and destination, we use PT partner laboratory / GC-MS testing or BQC, both holding Laboratory partnership for GC-MS testing (accreditation details shared on request).
Open-Door Split-Sample Policy.
Any buyer may request a split sample from any active batch to conduct independent third-party testing at their own facility or preferred laboratory. We welcome and encourage this — a supplier confident in their product has nothing to hide.

- Split between buyer's lab and an agreed independent laboratory for parallel analysis.
- Results compared side-by-side; shipment proceeds only on match.
- No NDA needed — results may be published as buyer wishes.
